Find Your Perfect Morocco Tour

Every trip we run reflects how you want to travel, not a fixed script every group follows. A private tour in Morocco means your own car and your own driver-guide. A group tour means sharing the same route and the same desert campfire with other travelers. Either way, you choose the pace and the stops that matter most to you.

Travel Morocco Your Way

Every traveler wants something different from this country. Some want the Sahara and nothing else. Some want ten days covering imperial cities, mountains, and coast. Some want a private guide who speaks their language and answers every question along the way.

Our tours cover all three, built from routes we run often enough to know exactly how long each stop deserves. If none of our set itineraries match what you have in mind, tell us your dates and we’ll build a custom package around them.

What to Expect on a Morocco Guided Tour

A typical guided tour in Morocco pairs you with a private driver-guide for the full trip, not a rotating cast of strangers. You’ll ride in an air-conditioned vehicle, stop at UNESCO sites and viewpoints along the way, and spend at least one night in a desert camp under a clear sky. Meals are usually half-board: breakfast every day, dinner included on set nights, lunch left open so you can choose where to eat. Most travelers ask why Morocco draws so many visitors in the first place. The answer is geography: nowhere else lets you cross the Sahara, the Atlas Mountains, and the Atlantic coast inside one week.

Private vs. Group Morocco Tours: Which Is Right for You?

This is the first real decision most travelers face, and it matters more than it looks.

Private Tours

A private tour gives you your own vehicle, your own driver-guide, and full control over pace. Want to stop for photos every twenty minutes? You can. Want to skip a stop that doesn’t interest you? You can do that too. Private tours cost more per person, especially for solo travelers, but the flexibility is real, not marketing language. Families, couples, and travelers with specific interests usually prefer this format.

Group Tours

A group tour puts you with other travelers on a shared route, shared vehicle, and shared schedule. It costs less per person, and it gives you company on long driving days, which some solo travelers actually prefer. The trade-off is a fixed itinerary and less say over daily timing.

How to Choose Between Them

If budget matters most, or you like meeting other travelers, choose group. If flexibility matters most, or you're traveling with family, choose private. There's no wrong answer here, only the one that fits your trip.

Itineraries to Fit Your Plans

Every tour in Morocco balances driving time against time spent actually exploring. Here’s how our published itineraries break down, so you can match duration to what you want to see.

Best Places to Start Your Journey

Most tours to Morocco begin in one of four cities, and each sets a different tone for the trip.

Explore Morocco by Destination & Experience

Marrakech & the Atlas Mountains

Marrakech’s medina and Djemaa el-Fna square anchor most itineraries. From there, the High Atlas rises fast, with Berber villages and mountain passes most travelers only see from a car window, and some choose to hike instead.

Fes & the Imperial Cities

Fes, Meknes, Rabat, and the Roman ruins at Volubilis form Morocco’s imperial city circuit. Fes’s medina and Meknes are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, along with Volubilis and the kasbah at Ait Benhaddou. That shared UNESCO status is worth knowing: these sites represent some of the best-preserved history in North Africa.

Sahara Desert & Merzouga

Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes are what most people picture when they imagine Morocco. A camel ride at sunset, dinner under Berber music, and a night in a desert camp are the parts of this trip travelers remember longest. Camel treks typically last about an hour each way, and nights can get cold even when the days are hot.

Chefchaouen & Northern Morocco

Chefchaouen, the blue-painted town in the Rif Mountains, is quieter than Marrakech or Fes and worth the detour on longer routes. It’s one of Morocco’s genuine hidden gems, still relatively light on tourist crowds compared to the south.

Casablanca & Rabat

Casablanca’s Hassan II Mosque is one of the largest in the world and open to non-Muslim visitors for guided tours. Rabat, the capital, is calmer and less visited than Marrakech, with the Kasbah of the Udayas overlooking the Atlantic.

Essaouira & the Atlantic Coast

Essaouira trades the desert heat for sea air and a walled medina built for trade, not tourism. It’s a strong add-on for travelers who want one coastal day inside a longer route.

Signature Moroccan Experiences

A few experiences repeat across nearly every itinerary because travelers ask for them by name: camel trekking into the dunes, a night in a desert camp, tea with a Berber family in the Atlas Mountains, and a walk through the Fes tanneries, one of the oldest working leather crafts in the world.

Morocco Tours For Every Traveler

Family Tours

Private tours work best for families. You control the pace, skip long walks that don’t suit young kids, and build in rest time between drives.

Couples & Honeymoon Tours

A private route through the desert and the coast gives couples privacy without losing the guided support of a driver who knows the country.

Solo & Solo-Female Traveler Tours

Solo female travelers ask us this often: Is Morocco safe to travel alone? Most solo travelers, including women, report feeling safe with common-sense precautions: loose-fitting clothing, a headscarf for the desert, and a licensed guide rather than an unverified operator. Group tours also give solo travelers company on long driving days.

Tours for Seniors

Our private tours suit older travelers well, since the pace, stops, and walking distance are all flexible rather than fixed by a group schedule.

Group & Multi-Generational Tours

Group departures work well for larger families or friend groups traveling together, splitting the vehicle and guide cost across more people.

Luxury Tours

Luxury on a Morocco experience usually means upgraded riads, a private desert camp instead of a shared one, and a smaller group or fully private format. We can build this into any itinerary on request.

What Your Tour Includes

What's Not Included

Solo & Solo-Female Traveler Tours

Group size

a private vehicle split between two people costs more per person than the same vehicle split between six.

Season

spring and fall carry higher demand than summer.

Accommodation tier

comfort, premium, or luxury, and private vs. group format both shift the total.

Length & activities

longer tours and extras like quad biking or sandboarding add to the base price.

Affordable Luxury Options

You don’t need a fully custom trip to upgrade your experience. Ask about upgrading one or two nights, usually the desert camp or your Marrakech riad, without changing the rest of your route or your budget by much.

Where You'll Stay

Riads, Kasbahs & Boutique Hotels

A riad is a traditional house built around an interior courtyard, common in the medinas of Marrakech and Fes. A kasbah is a fortified building, often found in mountain and desert regions, some restored as guesthouses. Both give you a more local stay than a standard hotel.

Desert Camps

Desert camps range from simple tents to heated, furnished ones with real beds. Every camp stay on our tours includes dinner and breakfast, and most include music around the fire before you sleep under a genuinely dark sky.

Accommodation Options

Getting Around: Vehicles & Trip Logistics

Minivan

Minivans carry small groups comfortably and handle mountain roads well, with air conditioning for hot driving days.

Private Car

Private cars suit couples, solo travelers, and small families who want a quieter, more personal ride.

Pick-Up & Drop-Off Points

We pick you up from your hotel or the airport in your starting city, and drop you off the same way at the end of your tour, including in a different city if your route is one-way.

Driving Times & What to Expect

Morocco's roads cover real distance, and driving days are part of the experience, not a flaw in it. Marrakech to Merzouga takes roughly 8 to 9 hours with stops. Merzouga to Fes runs about 6 to 7 hours. We build in stops for photos, meals, and rest roughly every two hours, so no single stretch feels endless.

Traveler Stories, & Reviews

Sarah & James — 8-Day Private Tour

Sarah and James wanted to see Marrakech, the Sahara, and Fes without rushing between hotels. Their 8-day private tour gave them time for all three. After crossing the Atlas Mountains toward Merzouga, they stopped at Ait Ben Haddou and drove on through the Dades Valley, reaching the Sahara before sunset.

They had planned a short camel ride, but asked to spend more time in the dunes instead. Their driver-guide adjusted the timing so they could watch the sunset before reaching camp, then spent the evening around the campfire and stayed overnight in the desert. For them, the highlight wasn’t just reaching the Sahara. It was having enough flexibility to enjoy the journey without watching the clock.

The Wilson Family — Private Tour With Kids

The Wilson family wanted to see the Sahara but were concerned about long driving days with their children. They chose a private tour instead of a fixed group schedule, so they could control the pace. Their route covered Marrakech, Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades Valley, Todra Gorge, Merzouga, and Fes.

Their driver-guide explained each long driving day beforehand and built in regular stops. The family especially appreciated being able to stop when the children needed a break, and chose a slower morning after their night in the desert rather than rushing into the next leg. Having control over the pace, they told us, made the whole trip easier.

Evelyn

We were two solo female travelers, nervous about navigating Morocco. Morocco Fun Tours gave us a private guide and driver from day one. The guide knew every corner of the Fes medina and we never once felt unsafe or lost.

James T.

I have taken group tours in other countries and always walked away feeling like I had seen the highlights but missed the country. This was completely different. Our guide rearranged our second day in Marrakech because he overheard me mention I was interested in architecture. He took us to three places not on the original itinerary that were genuinely breathtaking.

Claudia

The Sahara night exceeded everything I imagined. The camp was beautiful, the stars were extraordinary, and our guide woke us before sunrise without being asked because he knew we would want it. That kind of attention is what you are paying for with a private tour.

Morocco Travel FAQs

What is the difference between a private and a group Morocco tour?

A private tour gives you your own vehicle, guide, and schedule. A group tour shares all three with other travelers at a lower cost per person.

How many days do I need for a Morocco tour?

Most first-time visitors are comfortable with 6 to 10 days. Shorter trips of 3 to 4 days work well if you’re focused on the Sahara alone.

Is Morocco safe for solo female travelers?

Yes, with common-sense precautions. Loose clothing, a headscarf for the desert, and a licensed guide make a real difference.

Do I need a visa to visit Morocco?

Most travelers from the US, UK, EU, and Canada don’t need one for stays up to 90 days. Check your specific nationality before you book.
